My name is Tanya and I'm a nurse practitioner in northern California. In spring of 2021, in the midst of the pandemic, I took up oil painting. I've spent a lot of time growing and building my technique over the last year. If there is something in particular you would like to see, let me know and I'll see if I can accommodate your request.
All of these paintings are with oil paint. Most are completed in a wet-on-wet technique where the paint is not allowed to dry before adding another layer or color. Occasionally, linseed oil is used to thin the paint down to make application easier. I typically use stretched canvas of various sizes. Most landscapes are done on either a 16"x20" or 18"x24" canvas. Pet portraits-10x10 or similar.
A few things influence my artwork. The first is Bob Ross, who was clearly a magician in his oil paintings of landscape art. I lived in Alaska for many years, and some of that can be seen in the paintings. I also grew up watching my mother paint, though she favored acrylics. Finally, my daughters have drawn, painted, and designed since they were little. I am inspired by all of them.
